Air Fluidization Characteristics

salam

As a becoming Chemical Engineer..
post2 pon kne laa ade unsur2 chemical engineering skit...
ye dak? yo laa tu kann
tyme2 ko bosan fikirkan viva selase ni...tyme ni baru la nk fikir post yg berunsurkan chemical engineering kan...
kalo xde...xdan ko nk nk wat post ilmiah cenggini kan...
haisshhh
xpe, atleast aku share something yg bg input...
kalo ade laa kan...
sat...
aku copy dari lab report aku ni je....
hha....kalo korg xpaham...korg bg laa komentar kt bwh tu naa...
kalo aku tau, aku jawab, kalo idak...idak laaa aku nk jawab nye.hehe.

AIR FLUIDIZATION CHARACTERISTICS

Many important industrial processes rely upon intimate contact between a fluid (liquid or gas) and a granular material. Fluidization is the one of the methods available for contacting granular solids with fluids. The fluidization technique was first started by the petroleum refineries to find a better catalytic cracking process than the fixed bed.

Figure 1: Various kinds of contacting of bed of solids by fluid.

1. Fixed bed:

At low gas velocities, there is pressure drop across the bed but the particles are stationary. This condition is shown is Figure 1(a).

2. Point of minimum fluidization or incipient fluidization:
The pressure drop across the bed equals the mass per unit area of the bed as the bed velocity is gradually increased. When the bed starts to expand, a certain velocity is reached. This is shown in Figure 1(b).

3. Particulate fluidization (homogeneous fluidization or smooth fluidization):
When the fluid is denser, for example gas at the high static pressure of a liquid or when the particles were finer with sizes from 20 to 100µm and less dense, < 1400 kg m-3 and the bed is able to sustain a degree of stable expansion. Figure 1(c) indicates particulate fluidization.

4. Aggregative or bubbling fluidization:

When the condition occurs as shown in Figure 1(d), there is a very large density difference between particle and the fluid. This is typical of gas-fluidized bed and is characterized by the gas rising via solid bed in bubble form.

ok? haaa....tu laa die sedikit sahaja penjelasan mengenai air fulidization ni ye...
kalo nk paste byk2 dari lab report saya, mmg byk sgt laa kamu2 semua kne bace...
itu pon kalo bace la...
kalo just nk scroll down je...x ke lame kan...
ha....tp bnde2 ilmiah cmni...walaupon sedikit...
kalo ade input..inshaAllah berguna...
kan3...

so, doakan kan kecemerlangan saya dalam berVIVA selasa ni ek...
hope semua berjalan lancar

p/s :sgt bz mnggu depan dengan assignmnet, tutorial, viva, lawatan industri n many more...syiok!!!...hope jumpe lagi di lain entry...kalo ade mase yekk...
eleh, byk je kooot mase terkangkang kan...haishh

pressure drop higher at low or high velocity??
knpe mesti ade pressure drop?knpe?knpe?ngeh3

higher pressure drop at high velocity...
based on the experiment carried out, by our grup.ceh2...mood viva ni...
by increasing the flow rate, the bed particle will be forced to move since the air go thru the bed with high velocity...hence, the pressure drop will be increase gradually...at the same time, the height of the bed being pushed by the air also will increase as increasing the flow rate. Moreover, we had observed that at high flow rates a bed is behave similar to Aggregative Fluidization which is the expansion of the bed came from the space occupied by the gas bubbles.
[kalo salah konsep, btul kan ek, b4 selas ni]

HAHAHAHA...awal2 aku main ckp gune bhasa aku...dah last2 tu aku copy paste...thnx 4 tnye...baru Cik Shinoda tnye, dh mnggeletar dah...kalo Jit Kang tnye, x ke terkencing aku dibuatnye...Haissshhh....

any question?? HAHA...

ko nak kencing kt mana nti klo Jit Kang tanya ko??

HAHA....sengal nye soalan....
jwpn utk soalan tu xde dalam report saya...harap maaf...kalo nk tau jugak, face to face ngn saya ye...
HAHA...

it might be good for you to organize your finding in a tabular form, to offer a clearer distinction of the characteristics.

you could accentuate the connection between velocity, pressure, expansion etc through this table.

if u have extra time, ask a friend to check your grammar.

"When the condition occurs as shown in Figure 1(d), there *has* very large density difference between particle and the fluid."

"When the condition occurs as shown in Figure 1(d), there *is a* very large density difference between particle and the fluid."

all the best for ur viva.

thnx alot...really appreaciate it!

actually, the entry is just the introduction of the experiment..hehe...i dont take too seriously to make it in tabular form etc...so sorry 4 dat...it just a short idea of what i need to present 4 my viva..hehe

for the grammar part..i'll correct it...thnx again 4 the wish also...ngee

taking things too seriously is when you perform various replication on the experiment to ascertain the accuracy of the result.

organizing the result in a table does not imply over seriousness. it just makes your result more readable.

Aidil Salleh said...

yeah! EXACTLY...i'm doing the experiment seriusly...

4 dat comment
hehe..i mean...i dont take too seriusly "to post this kind of experiment" in my blog in a full report...just want to share a bit of the idea of my viva presentation..hehe...

thnx alot...

wish me luck k!

wow..tak tahu lak rupa2 nya dak chemcical dah lame belajar pasal ni. kami dak meche belajar pom coz paper elektif. so leh la tnye junior kimia gni kalu tak faham..thnks a lot. it also help me a little bit to understand wut is air fluidization......;)

dak mechy x penting sgt blaja bende ni.

cam budak chem la, cuba tanya dia pasal *static*, bende basic yg dak mechy belajar berkurun dulu. :P

Aidil Salleh said...

suna : can ler tanye skit2...hehe...

nothing subs: static? err...ngeri dgr...HAHA....xsure igt lagi ke x..but,skit2 igt koot...sbb die lbh kurg cam engineering physics bljr tyme asasi dulu...ngee
